A DIFFERENT DRUM:
TDOL
was invited into the ADD family in October 2003. If you're
not familiar with ADD, it's one of the most recognized
independent synthpop labels in the world. No time to rest
after years of writing, recording and promotion, CD single
for the track XRV was released in May 2004, including
some stellar remixes of the title track and a special
new mix of Vinyl Bliss. The third and self titled new
album was released September 2005. TDOL is honored to
be included on ADD's roster. Thanks to everyone who has
been so supportive over the years and the new fans who
are spreading the word.
THE NEW ALBUM:
Months
of polishing and refining have culminated in the latest
offering by TDOL. The ten-track journey into new but oddly
familiar territory will appease the hook-hungry and challenge
the lyricallly inquisitive. The special limited edition
also includes remixes of five different tracks by some
of the top remixers in the scene. Order your copy here.
FREE MP3 DOWNLOADS:
A
few tracks are available on the MP3
Page.
In
Too Deep: Dead or Alive were best known for their
chartbreaking hit You Spin Me Round (Like A Record),
which still spins its way into clubs across the world.
TDOL's cover of one of their second-tier hits stays fairly
true to the original while adding a sweet electro flavor.
Read Between The Lines: England's The Fixx were one of
many UK bands that enjoyed more success across the Atlantic
than in their homeland, punching out such hits as Saved
by Zero and One Thing Leads to Another in
the early eighties. TDOL covers one of their most stirring
ballads never to grace the mainstream airwaves.
Someone Is You: A confessional and touching ballad, this
track was to be included on the last album. However, upon
completion of the song, it was decided that it didn't
gel with the rest of the album and should be released
in its own right.
TDOL'S FIRST TWO ALBUMS FOR SALE:
Tired Hands and Belief
can now be purchased directly from this website at a reasonable
price. A couple tracks from each album are also included
for preview. Visit the Order Page
for more info.
XRV OUT OF PRINT:
ADD
has completely sold out of its 1000 copies of the XRV
single. However, Vendetta
Music carries the single for only $5.99 (Vendors
on Amazon have it for the basement price of $39.99).
TDOL ON iTUNES:
You
can download songs from the new TDOL album for only $0.99
each, or the entire album for $9.99.

FREE ALBUM DOWNLOAD!
It's been quite a while since I've updated this page, but a lot has happened in these last couple years - our second child, Carson, greeted the new year in style on 1/1/10 at 12:03 AM; I joined the local volunteer fire department; quit my job and started my own consulting business, etc. I work from home, spend my free time with my beautiful wife and two boys and drive an Outback with the license plate ‘TRLRNNR’. Life has been good.
I was driving the other day and decided to listen to the last TDOL album in its entirety, possibly for the first time in over 5 years. I guess it wasn’t such a bad effort after all! Saying that, I’ve decided to celebrate the 5th year anniversary by making the entire album available for free download for as long as this site stays active. To be fair to those who purchased the Limited Edition 2-CD version, I have not included the remixes. However, if there’s enough interest, I was considering posting liner notes, unreleased songs/remixes/demos, etc., in the future. In the meantime, download as needed, and share as you see fit. This and other TDOL CDs are also available for purchase on the Order Page. Again, thanks for all of your support!
Download the album here.

Thanks: It
is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of TDOL as we
know it. I had reached a point in my life where music had become
a chore and a deep source of stress. Most of the songs on the
last album were completed in my head long before they were
ever recorded, and attempting to recreate these grandiose mixes
with my limited production knowledge resulted in many wasteful
hours in front of a computer when I could have been spending
this time with my wife. After my son was born in May, I
realized that my time should be devoted to my family and
to my general well-being. Since then, I've been
more relaxed than I can ever remember. I've also learned that
I have a natural affinity for trail running and am encouraged
to find that my health has returned to what it once was. I
can now attend social events without the cloud of music deadlines
hanging
over my
head, or listen to music for the pure enjoyment of it, and
not to critique it.
There
are many other facets to this thought process,
some trivial, others possibly a figment of my imagination -
all
combining
to a change in priorities that resulted in a life decision.
I have no regrets, and look forward to my new life as a father
and devoted husband.
Music
will always be one of my great passions, and I realize that
some of my best stuff will regrettably fall by the wayside
for now.
However, I am fortunate that I was able to share these songs
with you for the time being.
Thank
you all for your enduring support and friendship.
Cheers,
Kirk
